ABOUT US
Archaeological evidence released in February of 2006 revealed that the caverns were used by Early Woodland Native Americans over 1300 years ago. The archeologists found burnt firewood locatd in a fire pit that has been radiocarbon dated to 675 A.D. They also found pottery, arrowheads, and other evidence of habitation.

Appalachian Caverns has a Gem Mine! Enjoy prospecting for your very own gemstones at our wet or dry-sift site! Kids and adults alike will enjoy discovering precious and semi-precious gemstones. Our bags are mixed with a sand and mineral mix, so we guarantee a find for everyone! Our friendly staff will help make the experience great! Walk-ins welcome!
